What other travelers are saying about Shikotsu-Toya National Park
Absolutely stunning volcanic park complete with geysers and sulphur in the air. Do yourself a favor and go further in than just the observation deck at the entrance. There are a number of low intensity hikes to do here.
Great place to visit. Not too touristy and quite scenic. The walk to the natural foot bath was great. Only problem is the local soba noodle places have really long lines and they close early. So make time sure you budge time if you wish to have lunch there.
Crater lakes. Active volcano with steam from the boiling water are seen here. Calm scenery. Nice breeze. Friendly walkable pathways. Best to put on sunnies and caps or umbrella as it can be hot in the month of end Aug, early Sept. Toilet is so clean as always in Japan.
The experience was enhanced by the knowledgeable guides who provided fascinating insights into the volcano's history and geology. Overall, visiting the volcano was a thrilling adventure that offered a profound connection with nature's raw power.
