What other travelers are saying about Canal City Hakata
Canal City Hakata is easily accessible by Kushida Shrine station by following the crowd and arrows to round about into the mall.
It has a good mix of high and mid end shops. My objectives is to get a good pair of walking shoes for my mum and myself at Alpens Fukuoka. Most eateries are on Basement 1 which will see crowds of people taking videos of the canal fountain show happening every hour.
My description will not do justice to Canal City, which houses a performing arts centre, Grand Hyatt and ten floors of space. I will spend a whole day here if not for my limited itinerary this round. The mall is definitely kids friendly as well as great for families to explore, so don't short-change yourselves by saying "Oh, I'm just passing by."
We ended up coming back two more times for food and rest after checking out Nakasu Food Stalls which is nearby.
I'll consider booking an accomodation nearby for my next visit after tackling Hakata and Tenjin.
Canal City Hakata is such a cool place! It’s way more than just a shopping mall — there’s a little canal running through it, colorful lights, and even fountain shows. You can shop, eat, relax, and just wander around without getting bored. The whole vibe is super fun and laid-back. Definitely one of those places that make you go “wow” when you walk in!
Canal City Hakata is quite a large complex with a canal running through the center. There are a wide variety of shops selling clothes, shoes, and toys. You’ll find places like Sanrio Gallery, Ghibli Shop, Disney Store, ABC Mart, and Gundam Base, as well as tons of gachapon (capsule toy) machines. There’s also a fountain show every 30 minutes, which is really fun to watch!
Even if you didn’t want to go shopping, the building itself is so pretty here. They also have water fountain shows quite regularly. We saw one in the day and again once at night. Worth going just to enjoy the architect.
There are a lot of shops. New renovations as well. A mix of good food, novelty shops, high end and mid end shops. Come see a water light show or get a pair of glasses between shopping.
