Discover the artistry of Kyoto at the "Miyake Kogei" workshop in Ukyo Ward. Founded by traditional craftsman Nobumi Miyake, this workshop specializes in the intricate Kyo Yuzen hand-painted kimono. From dyeing raw fabric to the final touches, visitors can witness key stages of kimono creation. Highlights include the stunning gold leaf and mother-of-pearl inlay decorations, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship involved.

In the gallery, admire the dazzling kimonos and unique collaborative art pieces designed for famous international films. This experience offers a rare glimpse into the world of traditional Japanese kimono making, blending age-old techniques with contemporary art. A. Workshop Tour *Every Wednesday and Friday, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
A one-hour course where you can view actual works, the workshop, and the kimono-making process.

B. Workshop Tour + Gold Leaf Craft Experience *Every Monday and Thursday, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
A two-hour course that includes a tour of actual works, the workshop, and the kimono-making process, along with the opportunity to create a postcard-sized piece using gold powder and other materials, which you can take home.

C. Workshop Tour + Artisan Experience
*Every Tuesday and Thursday, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
*Every Saturday, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
A two-hour course that includes a tour of actual works, the workshop, and the kimono-making process, along with hands-on experience in various stages of kimono production — from preparation to finishing. You’ll get to dye 100% silk kimono fabric, apply traditional Japanese patterns known as komon using stencils, and decorate with gold leaf.

  • 11:40 AM: Visit the gallery to see exquisite kimonos and artworks

Afternoon Session: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

  • All bookings are final and cannot be refunded.

  • Participants must be at least 6 years old.

  • Each session runs for 2 hours.

  • Sessions are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

  • Advance booking is recommended due to limited spots.

  • Comfortable clothing is advised as the tour involves walking.

  • Photography is allowed, but please be respectful of the artisans' workspaces.
