The forest walk from the Karurusu car park to the lake takes about 60 minutes each way, with a 30-minute break at the lakeside in between.

Do I need hiking experience?

No special experience is needed. The route is rated easy, but it covers rough, uneven ground, so you should be comfortable walking uphill and downhill.

How do I get to the start of the hike?

You meet at adex base in Noboribetsu Onsen 15 minutes before departure for a gear and clothing check. From there, you drive to the Karurusu car park, about 15 minutes away.
