A walking tour of featuring tucked away Izakayas.
Delicious food and great drinks! If you’d like a taste of the local Sendai nightlife this tour is a must!
Great Japanese izakaya experience
A great tour experiencing Sendai culture and food in "bunka yokocho" and "iroha yokocho"! The area was the first part of Sendai to recover after the war, and because of which, many restaurants still have the same feel it did 60 years ago.
You really feel like you're transported to a different realm with more than a hundred shops lining this labyrinthine marketplace. Without a tour guide I would definitely feel overwhelmed.
All three restaurants were delicious, my favorite being the first one which served yakitori, or chicken grilled on skewers. The level of tastiness from the chicken was out of this world! I would recommend the heart and breast accompanied with an ice cold beer.
The next restaurant was great because it had a nice selection of Japanese sake. The food was also tasty, particularly it's broccoli tempura.
The last and final izakaya had the best 'local' experience because we got to talk with the owner and chef, in Japanese called the 'o-kami-san.' she was actually from iwate prefecture and served us a delicious dish of oden, which is a bunch of boiled fishcakes and vegetables. She also served us some specialty Japanese sake from iwate.
Extremely fun and satisfying experience. Would do again 10/10.
