What other travelers are saying about Umeda Sky Building

I visited the Umeda Sky Building on New Year's Day, and it was a great experience. When I arrived in the morning, there weren’t many people, but when I was about to leave, I noticed a long line forming, so I think it gets quite busy in the afternoon. If you want to avoid the wait, I recommend coming early. The view of Osaka from the rooftop is absolutely stunning – definitely worth the visit! There's also a coffee shop up there where you can relax and enjoy the scenery. When I visited, I didn’t have a reservation; I simply walked in and was able to go directly to the building and rooftop. It's a must-visit spot when you're in Osaka. The staff was welcoming and professional, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend it!"

We bought our tickets last minute and there wasn't too much of a crowd on a weekday evening. We visited during sunset hours and the transition from daytime to night was very pretty to see from high up. A glass elevator took us all the way to the top (yes the ears popped) and we also enjoyed the view through the glass elevator walls. Then after appreciating the views from the initial floor (there's also a cafe), we took the stairs up to the second floor via a super long escalator that offered an amazing night view of the city! The floor also has space themed art that glows in the dark and I'm sure there are black lights somewhere as well as all white clothing glowed as well. The cool night wind and twinkling city night lights is something I wish I could see every day but being able to spend some time just basking it all in will forever remain a core memory of mine.

The skywalk offers a stunning city view, especially at night with its glowing floor adding a magical touch. The observatory highlights the impressive technology behind the tower, built using a lift-up method and designed to resist earthquakes—much like two people holding hands for balance while standing in a moving train. Though the line was long, the experience was absolutely worth it. A must-visit for both the views and the engineering marvel.

Sure it’s a tourist attraction, but it’s still a “must see” location. I went during the afternoon after my morning visit to Universal Studios and it was an easy commute via train. I purchased an admission ticket in advance online which I recommend to anyone planning to visit. There may not be a long line for admission depending on which time you visit, but having a ticket in advance is just less hassle. Since it was during the day time, the escalators weren’t lit up with the blue lighting you may see on social media posts (I recommend going during the evening if you want photos of it illuminated). The views were breathtaking, you even get to go outside on the skywalk for an incredible view of Osaka. While inside the sky building, there is room that provides historical context/timeline on the development and construction of the sky building - which is a must if you’re curious about learning history. Overall - it’s an amazing architecture design to view, there’s a fascinating history behind it, and you’ll capture great photos during your visit!

Amazing place to get views of Osaka - we went in the morning so it wasn't too crowded. Plenty of space to get photos with their famous escalator as well as their indoor AND outdoor observatories. Highly recommend using the Osaka Amazing pass to get in here for free before 3 PM.
