What other travelers are saying about Yoshimizu Shrine
UNESCO world heritage site, with history over 1000 years of emperors, warlords, samurai, and pilgrims visiting. Apparently an amazing cherry blossom spot, as there is over 30,000 yoshino cherry blossom trees are planted with a great view from this temple. It makes sense warlords hundreds of years ago would do hanami up here. Overall recommended for the legendary history.
Inside the Mt. Yoshino, it takes around 15 minutes from the cable car station.
There is a spot in front of the shrine having a clear, wide view of Mt. yoshino, with no fee needed. Must be a fascinating view during cherry blooming season.
Yoshimizu Shrine is an Unesco hetitage site to an emperor and samurai, also a popular place for cherry blossom viewing and offers some great, unobstructed views of Yoshino's cherry tree covered mountain slopes.
Despite the history and current status of it, the shrine was of no particular interest to me. What was interesting was the view of cherry trees of faraway mountains from it. It was an eye-opening experience for me on April 1, 2018!
