Went to Lake Toya for a day return trip. It’s very beautiful and there are some nice hotels there. The boat cruise on the lake is a must do activity. You can get off the boat at the central island, hike around for several hours and visit the natural museum there, before hopping on the next boat for the return trip.
There is a firework show over the lake in the evening; but it was too late for my return train so I didn’t see it.
A stunning lake! I left at 6:00 and arrived home again at 20:00.
Proceeding via Donan Bus (Toya Station - Toyako Onsen Bus Stop) after taking three local trains (Sapporo - Tomakomai, Tomakomai - Higashi Muroran, and Higashi Muroran - Toya Station). The long drive is worthwhile because of the picturesque countryside and coastal setting. Good to know that a 3-hour direct bus ride from the Toyako Onsen Bus Stop to Sapporo Station could be an option for the return trip.
You're advisable to pack a little snack and your own lunch box. There are plenty of vending machines where you may get fresh afternoon coffee after a warm foothbathing. It's wise to prepare your ¥7,000 in cash because practically all of the public transportation mentioned above does not accept your IC card.
A small town with a beautiful lake that i would not mind spending my whole day in.. the view was excellent and the vibes is very good .. public transportation is available but the timing is a bit far..so plan your visit here carefully if you are not using tour provider
Very nice view and there is a super chill vibe over there. You can enjoy the free footbath or also stay in the onsen hotel for relaxing experience. During winter time there is nothing much to do but summer time you can trekking and cycling around the lake. Summer time they also have a 20 to 25 mins fireworks daily. You can enjoy the fireworks and onsen together or maybe to join their fireworks night cruise.
