What other travelers are saying about Furano Winery
No one to guide us when we were there. So we just walked around and tried the free tasting wine. There are paid tasting wine too.
Has a small souvenir shop where you can get wine and some snacks.
Our day trip to the town of Biei had us stopping here. Founded in 1972, views from here are very picturesque.
EXPERIENCE:
No active production can be seen here, like the majority of public Hokkaido manufacturing. Walk and read the signs if you wish. An aging room can be viewed behind glass windows but I wouldn’t stay in there long as it had a funky odor and what looked like black mold on the walls.
Upstairs you’ll find a tasting room with a self-serve station featuring 2 types of white and 2 types of red wine dispensed from tiny barrels. Thereafter is the gift shop.
TIP:
Their grape juice factory is closed until 2025.
OVERALL:
Visit to taste the wine and purchase. Skip everything else.
A small cosy wine factory. There is free wine tasting and a piece of alcohol chocolate to try. You must be 20yr and above to get the free tasting and chocolate.
the winery sits atop a hill with commanding views of the valley, to the back there's a large lavender field making this a very good photo stop. however, the wines on offer were really disappointing.
