Makino Botanical Garden
This is a huge and nice place

If you want to unwind for a moment you can visit this place
The fresh air from the mountains will certainly relax you
You can pay your ticket by card
You can go here via bus from kochi bus station
You can also go back to the city via bus or taxi
Nice place to go if you want to spend some time in the nature when you in Kochi city. To go there, you can take the my-yu bus as there’s a stop at the entrance. Just make sure you have the bud schedule. Inside, there is a variety of plants and the area is pretty big. If you just want to walk around, it will take about two hours to have a quick look at everything. There’s also a souvenir shop and a cafe.
There's wonderful cafe in the park, and alot of secret routes to get to places, do remember to get the map at the ticketing office so that you won't get lost.
Not very well planned. You need to walk one way in and same way out . Should have made circle. NOT very wheelchair friendly!
The green house was excellent and has a lift to different floors so you could see tops of trees and water pond with large water plants.
Amazing Botanical garden!
Was skeptical at the beginning as there was some construction going on but wow, was not expecting this magnificent garden at all!
East entrance has a nice little gift/museum shop and access to the lab (great for kids as well) with some serious organic and analytical lab equipment, ranging from rotational evaporators to high pressure liquid chromatography systems, not sure what they use them for as the lab was closed during the weekend but from that point on, I was already impressed.
Entering the greenhouse you have an amazing sky-view with different flora, the greenhouse was well maintained with a large variety of flowers even in November. The gardens are vast and varied as well but (for me) less interesting in winters. nevertheless, well worth a visit.
This might be one of the greatest highlights of my Japan trip!
10/10 would recommend and maybe even revisit if I would come back to Japan.
