What other travelers are saying about Okochi Sanso Villa
Really stunning Japanese garden, cannot recommend this enough. We were mesmerized at every turn, and the fall colors were so beautiful. Please note that it is not very accessible, there are a lot of awkward stairs so you’ll need to be able to maneuver pretty well.
Awesome traditional Japanese gardens well worth the entry fee. Make sure you stop and enjoy an included tea or cold drink at the tea house before you leave. Amazing space that was built by an old famous actor. Great views and just a stunning visual experience.
Although I've been to Eikandou and Tofukuji temple, but Okochi Sanso garden is still a surprisingly beautiful place to visit. Very well worth the 1000 Yen!
This was built by a famous film maker in Japan many years ago.
Located at the river side of Bamboo Forest, you can easily locate it while navigating through the Bamboo Walk. They also offer nice hot/cold tea at the exit of the garden. There are some stunning photo spots, as you can see in the photos!!!
I spent nearly 2 hours there to really enjoy the garden.
Very much worth the 1000 yen ticket. This is the best fall color we've seen during our Kyoto trip. Beautiful garden that belongs to an actor from the 60s, it was a nice easy hike
Fabulous gardens spread along a circular route through a natural forest. It’s worth the entry fee for two reasons - the ambience and atmosphere are magnificent, and there is no noisy crowd. Follow the one-way signs along the route, take your time, and enjoy the nature.
There are many spots suitable for great pictures and videos. There is also a matcha place and a public toilet.
