Oishi Park, located on the northern shore of Lake Kawaguchi in Fujikawaguchiko, Japan, is one of the best spots to enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Fuji. This beautifully maintained park offers a serene setting with vibrant seasonal flowers, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists throughout the year.
Seasonal Highlights
Spring: The park comes alive with tulips and narcissus, creating a colorful and picturesque landscape.
Summer: Lavender fields bloom in full glory, covering the park in a stunning sea of purple that contrasts beautifully with Mount Fuji in the background.
Autumn: The famous kochia (summer cypress) plants turn a brilliant red, adding a unique charm to the park.
Winter: While flowers may be sparse, the crisp, clear air provides some of the best unobstructed views of snow-capped Mount Fuji.
A 350-meter-long “Flowers Road” allows visitors to stroll along the lake while enjoying these seasonal beauties, making it an ideal place for photography.
Visitor Experience
Oishi Park is not just about the views—it also offers a relaxing experience with its small café, souvenir shops, and local delicacies. Visitors often praise the lavender-infused ice cream, a unique treat that perfectly matches the summer scenery. With well-maintained walking paths and plenty of open space, the park is an excellent place for leisurely walks or simply sitting by the lakeside and enjoying the tranquil surroundings.
Accessibility
Getting to Oishi Park is convenient, as it is the final stop on the Kawaguchiko Sightseeing Bus Red Line from Kawaguchiko Station. This easy access makes it a great choice for travelers looking for a peaceful yet stunning viewpoint of Japan’s iconic mountain.

Nice place to grab an ice cream and catch a full view of mount Fuji. There is a gift shop, fruit shop, ice cream shop. If you walk a bit further you'll see the colourful field.
The grape flavoured icecream is really good.
I was visiting in November where most of the plants were already withering. So brown is dominating the entire park. However, some flowers are still in full bloom and maintaining their colorful appearance despite the cold weather. I was hoping to see a glimpse of Mount Fuji but not to my expectation, it was covered with clouds and fog. Oh well. Maybe if I visit during summer or spring, the scenery will be much livelier and more colourful.
