This is one of the best spots to see Mt. Fuji on a clear day, showcasing its flawless shape. Buses from Kawaguchiko Station start at 9 AM, and visitors quickly gather, followed by arriving tourist buses. While it gets crowded, the flow of people remains manageable.
I visited twice, on March 20 and 21, 2025. By 10 AM, the ice cream and fresh fruit shops were busy with customers. There were a few seats available for resting, and aside from Mt. Fuji, the park itself was lovely, though covered in snow during my visit.
For the best experience—since my main goal was to view Mt. Fuji along the lake—I walked from Kawaguchiko Station to Oishi Park. This way, I avoided the crowds and had a clear, peaceful spot for taking photos.
The park is lovely but unfortunately it was so cloudy we couldn’t see Fuji san, I think the scenery would’ve been spectacular If we got to see it. The soft ice cream sold at the cafe -especially lavender- was exceptional. Also the omiyage shop there has a good collection with some sakura and lavender products.
The views here to Mount Fuji are spectacular! Wonderful lake with an amazing view, but apart from that nothing much to do. You can get ice-cream but it will all be full with tourists coming from guided tours.
The view of Mt Fuji was great. Honestly not the best vantage point in Lake Kawaguchiko but still beautiful nonetheless.
I found the gardens run down and thought that the venue could benefit from a viewing platform. Visitors & tourists needed to walk down a rough path to the lake’s edge and stand on slippery rocks to get the best vantage point.
Why couldn’t they build a viewing platform. They then had signs insisting to wipe mud off shoes before entering the building 🤷♀️
Extremely beautiful! We were there in the morning and Mt Fuji was capped in the snow without being covered by the clouds. Absolutely stunning and breathtaking to us even it was very crowded. The shops in the park was selling quite tasty ice cream.
