What other travelers are saying about Mihama American Village
I felt that the American Village was a vibrant mini "city" that offers a unique blend of American and Okinawan culture. With its retro American-style architecture, Ferris wheel, and wide variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options, it felt that there was a mini slice of the U.S. in the heart of Okinawa. The atmosphere was energetic, and there's something for everyone, from shopping and dining to enjoying live music and the beach nearby. It grew especially more charming in the evening when the area lights up, creating a bit of a festive vibe. While it can be a bit touristy, the American Village provides a fun experience that's perfect for those looking to explore a different side of Okinawa.
I strongly recommend bringing an umbrella as a good portion of the American Village is not sheltered and going in between the clusters of shops require some walking under open air. Enjoy!
I wasn't hungry, so I only had a Long Island Ice Tea for $6.50. It was delicious. The food had a delicious aroma at Horizon and you can't beat the way they have decorated it for Christmas! I'll be back for lunch soon to enjoy their marvelous view!
1. A highly recommended spot to visit during a rental car trip in Okinawa, especially stunning at night.
2. With various restaurants and shopping stores, it’s a great place to take a leisurely stroll and explore.
3. Although there’s a large parking lot, it tends to get crowded in the evening, so staying overnight at a nearby hotel is also recommended.
Kitsch theme park feeling cheap tourist trap shopping mall that’s a bit run down and soulless. Hour bus ride from Naha definitely not worth the time/effort. Don’t get the appeal tho Christmas decorations were fun
This place was quite buzzing as we were there on Halloween day and lots of ppl dressed up for the festival. We walked around a bit and spend about 2 to 3 hours there just browsing the shops and had lunch at Nora cafe. Food was good. Not sure if I would go back given that there are plenty of other things to do in Okinawa.
