What other travelers are saying about Akechidaira Observation Area
Please come and see this on a clear day. I went when it was rainy, and saw nothing. But it was cool to go to the top, as it was 1373 metres above see level. I'm sure the views would of been amazing!! The return ticket was 1000 yen, and the ropeway goes every 10 minutes till 3:30pm.
You should visit on a clear, sunny day. I went on 18/10/2024, which turned out to be a rainy day with haze. The staff mentioned that you wouldn’t be able to see the view, but I decided to go up on the ropeway anyway since I had already come here by bus. It felt like going through Silent Hill, lol.
Since it wasn’t a good day to visit, it wasn’t crowded here.
Even though you can’t see much, you can hear the sound of the falls and breathe in the fresh air.
However, the strawberry soft cream was really good—you should definitely try some!
The ropeway car provides an incredible view of the mountains and waterfalls. As you glide above the landscape, the beauty of nature. The majestic mountains paired with the cascading waterfalls create a scene that is unforgettable. It is an ideal spot for photography or simply enjoying the scenery. Many visitors have shared that this experience is one of the highlights of their trip. Riding the ropeway is a must if you ever get the chance. The thrill of being suspended above such stunning views is something you do not want to miss. So, grab your camera and get ready for an adventure that will leave you with lasting memories!
Cable car trip to an observation point with amazing views across Nikko. Cable car takes 5 mins or so and runs every 10 mins.
Food stands while you are waiting to go up as well as toilets. Just views at the top with 100yen telescopes also. We had a misty day but it was still good. Roads to even get thete are incredible!
If the weather isn’t good, the ropeway doesn’t run. From the ropeway, you can see the road you came up on--Iroha-zaka Pass (with its 48 hair-pin curves going up and down the mountain) to your right. You can also enjoy the view of many mountains overlapping one another in the far distance. In the woods below you, you’ll see a river meandering through the trees. It is the Daiya River. After a short 3-minute trip, you’ll arrive at the observation area—a wide-open deck with a 360-degree view. The ropeway runs from 9 AM to 4 PM throughout the year except March 1-15th. The one way fee is 390 yen (child: 190 yen) and the round trip fee is 710 yen (child: 360 yen).
