If you’re visiting this area (probably for the cup noodle museum, let’s be honest!) then it’s absolutely worth spending less than 1,000Yen to go up the Landmark tower. The lift up is very fast, like scary fast, but the actual 360 observation level is well laid out, and an absolute perk was that there was a nice bar up there selling some good craft beers and sparkling wine cocktails!
We luckily snagged a sofa seat overlooking a cloudy Mt.Fuji side whilst the sun was setting, however the view over the city and waterfront itself is worth the visit regardless.
There is no better spot in Yokohama to admire these amazing views of Yokohama harbor, bay, and the Tokyo skyline!
What's more, is that it only costs a maximum of 1000 yen per person (search online for coupons), compared to some 2500-3500 prices in Tokyo. There was zero wait time (we went at sunset) and no overcrowding anywhere. They even have a bar upstairs that sells drinks, snacks and ice cream. There is enough seating for everyone to take a break and not having to sit on the floors like peasants. To top it off, there is minimal glare on the windows from lights in the back, and the windows were clean.
I would 100% come here again and I recommend this to anyone visiting Yokohama!
Although when I went up it was a cloudy day, the view was still spectacular so I can only imagine how much more epic it is on a clear skies day/night.
Very kind of then to give a free drink + post card on days that it is cloudy/rainy.
Also the lift up to the 69th floor is rapid! Reaching speeds of up to 750m/min!
Went to the Landmark Sky Garden on a Tuesday mid day. There was no line, however it was a pretty cloudy day. If I were to do it again, I would plan to come on a clear day, and I would try to make it happen at the end of the day. I would try and catch the sunset hour so you can see the skyline during the day, catch the sunset and then watch the city scape light up at night! The view is pretty spectacular, but it is a bit pricy.
Of all the observation decks in the Tokyo/Yokohama region, this one is my absolute favorite.
The observation deck itself is quite spacious. The windows are very large and have sufficient space between the frames that make taking photographs better. The view is just fantastic, especially since Minatomirai is right next to the Landmark Tower.
What is even more amazing is that the ticket only costs 1000 yen! Which is way cheaper than most high rise observatories (Tokyo Skytree is 3500 yen, which is a disappointing experience as well).
Other things I found fascinating was the high speed elevator. The ice cream the cafe served was also unique and delicious, which I found extremely surprising.
