Tea Ceremony Hakuun-Do Tea Garden

4 (200)ParkTourist AttractionPoint Of InterestEstablishment

Tea Ceremony Hakuun-Do Tea Garden in Hakone is a serene escape into the essence of Japanese tradition. Picture this: a garden where every stone, every leaf, is placed with care, creating a space that feels timeless. The tea house itself is a beautiful example of simplicity—wood, tatami, and soft light all coming together to invite peace.

When you step inside, you’re not just there to drink tea; you’re stepping into a ritual that’s been perfected over centuries. The tea ceremony here is about precision, mindfulness, and connection. The host moves with grace, whisking the matcha with a quiet focus that draws you in. You’re not just a spectator; you’re part of the experience, feeling the warmth of the tea bowl in your hands, hearing the soft sound of water pouring, and breathing in the earthy aroma of the tea.

Outside, the garden adds another layer of beauty. In spring, the cherry blossoms bloom, creating a soft pink canopy. In autumn, the leaves turn fiery red and gold, adding a burst of color. Every visit offers a new experience tied to the changing seasons.

What other travelers are saying about Tea Ceremony Hakuun-Do Tea Garden

Worth the trip especially with the Hakone free pass as this park is a free entry then. The fountain is beautiful year round although spring post March may be the best time to visit. The green house has some interesting collection and the craft workshop has some interesting activities.

A lovely little park—small but charming. Although it’s already winter and most of the flowers and trees are dormant, I can imagine the garden looking even more beautiful in spring and summer. That said, even in winter, the park still has its own appeal. The fountain is elegant, and there are plenty of cute and picturesque corners to explore. It was a peaceful and enjoyable walk, and I appreciated its quiet beauty despite the season.

¥650 to enter but your ticket lasts all day long with reentry. The park is small but there are a lot of things to do and see. The spring flowers were not ready yet so there wasn’t much to see. The view of the mountain is wonderful as well. Lots of bathrooms, shops, a cafe, vending machines and coin lockers to store your personal belongings.

Beautiful and Relaxing Oasis in Hakone Hakone Gōra Park is a stunningly beautiful, tranquil park nestled in the hills of Hakone. The well-maintained gardens are filled with vibrant flowers, trees, and winding paths, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. The French-style landscape design offers a peaceful atmosphere, complemented by the sound of water from the lovely fountains. One of the highlights is the tea house where you can experience traditional Japanese tea ceremonies—a must-try for a taste of authentic culture. There are also art workshops and craft experiences available, adding a unique touch to your visit. The park's elevated location provides some great views of the surrounding mountains, making it an ideal spot for photographers or anyone wanting to take in the natural beauty of Hakone. Highly recommended for a peaceful escape! (Note: The park is on a hill, so be prepared for some uphill walking, but it's well worth it!)
Well worth the hike. Peaceful and relaxing. Could have spent all day here. Has craft classes (glass blowing and pottery), a tea house, souvenir shop and impressive greenhouse (loved the Totoro tunnel). The gardens and park itself are absolutely beautiful. Thank you for having us
