Small gardens near to the city. However it’s absolutely beautifully crafted and designed. Definitely worth a visit . We were there 2 weeks ago and there was enough autumn colors to wow us . Highly recommended.
Beautiful, well kept and calm garden. Well worth the entry fee (¥260/p). During certain times, you can also get a free guide. We opted out, but got a really nice quick introduction from a very friendly and knowledgeable guide before we set off on our own. It was not too crowded and easy to get around.
As we went in late November, the colors in the garden were amazing, and some of the plants and trees were covered and ready for winter. Since the temperature was a bit low, the fish were not as active (in other words, don't waste your money on fish food if it's too cold). The water in the huge pond is a mix of salt- and fresh water, and therefore host fish from both sources, both large and small. And of course keep an eye out for the turtles!

Fantastic Garden. Good place to rest your legs and enjoy some quiet time and some serene views. The whole park is a tiny walk around the main pond, yet very enjoyable. The entire garden is well kept and maintained; as usual.
Highly recommended if you happen to be close to it, on your travels.
You can also feed the fish. It's like $2-5 to get in.

Nice garden with some great photo spots.
Shukkei-en garden costs around ¥260 per adult and offers a really well maintained pathway through and around a big pond with Koi inside.
Stunning park. There's a box full of fish food packets up front that you can purchase. The fish were beautiful, the scenery was beautiful, it was just magnificent. As someone who is able-bodied, I don't recommend walking up the arch on the bridge, even with steps it was steep and slippery. There's room to walk around it so you can skip going over it.
