What other travelers are saying about Naminoue Shrine
Naminoue Shrine (波上宮) is a stunning and peaceful spot in Naha, Okinawa. Perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean, the views alone make it worth a visit. The shrine's architecture is beautiful, with vibrant red and white colors standing out against the lush greenery and blue sky. It’s well-maintained and has a serene atmosphere, perfect for a moment of reflection or to appreciate Okinawan culture.
The steps leading up to the shrine are manageable and offer a picturesque approach. Don’t miss the chance to explore the nearby Naminoue Beach and park area to round out your visit. It’s a great spot for families, solo travelers, or anyone looking to experience a mix of spirituality and natural beauty. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in Naha!
A nice shrine at the heart of Naha and truly tourist friendly. There are instruction around to show visitors what to do when visiting the shrine. The charm for safe travel comes in different styles and are quite popular.
There are some parking spots onsite but very limited with high pedestrian traffic. There are several car parks nearby within walking distance.
Please be considerate and keep quiet while visiting the shrine to respect others, the Japanese culture, and yourselves.
Beautiful shinto shrine in the north area of Okinawa. Out of all the shrines and temples I visited in Okinawa this is the busiest and most touristic one. If you are in Naha it is worth doing a detour to visit. The shrine is on a cliff so if you walk a bit you could get a view of the shrine over the sea.
The shrine also has a beach access. Free parking available.
A local popular holy shrine with a temple and statues in the surrounding. Beware of the influx of group tourists, which may cause a little inconvenience of your visit.
I loved this Shrine my hotel is a 5 minute walk away it's so peaceful if you go early in the morning. It says it open at 9-5 but I went around 7-730 that's the best time. I went one afternoon around 430 and was astounded at all the people so if your seeking peace go early.
