Myoko Kogen Ski Area in Niigata Prefecture is celebrated for its abundant snowfall, often receiving more than 13 meters of snow each season. This makes it one of the premier destinations for powder skiing in Japan. The area encompasses several individual ski resorts, including Akakura Onsen, Akakura Kanko, Ikenotaira Onsen, Suginohara, and Seki Onsen, each offering a unique set of runs and facilities.

The terrain in Myoko Kogen varies widely, providing options for all skill levels, from wide, gentle slopes for beginners to challenging off-piste areas for advanced skiers and snowboarders. The region is also known for its long runs, with some slopes stretching over 8 kilometers.

Beyond the slopes, Myoko Kogen Ski Area offers a rich cultural experience. The area is dotted with traditional onsen, where visitors can relax in geothermal hot springs, a perfect end to a day in the snow. The local town, with its welcoming atmosphere, offers a glimpse into traditional Japanese life, with a variety of local dining options and accommodations.

Myoko Kogen's excellent snow conditions, diverse terrain, and cultural richness make it a standout destination for winter sports enthusiasts looking to experience the best of Japan's ski scene.

What other travelers are saying about Myoko Kogen Ski Area

Myoko village is a pretty little place with a few cafes and restaurants. Easy access to ski slopes - walking distance to Akakura Onsen lifts and not too far to Akakura Kanko ( walk or shuttle).

Had a great time in Myoko Kogen. It's getting pretty busy there but still plenty of snow around if you know where to look.

We're hoping to plan a trip here in late November, do you think there will be enough snow at that time??
