What other travelers are saying about Maruyama Park
Make sure to come here during spring because all the sakura trees are in bloom.
It's incredibly beautiful in this garden with all the sakura blossoms. There are many great photo spots. One hour was not enough time for me to explore this place.
There are also many food vendors here, but the prices are quite steep, in my opinion.
In Indonesia, fried ubi (sweet potato) costs 5,000 rupiah and can fill you up. Here, it costs 600 yen, or around 60,000 rupiah.
The odeng here is similar to the one in Indonesia. There's one type of odeng that I don't know the name of, but it tastes good, similar to jelly
Enhance your sakura photo experience by renting a traditional kimono and mixing and matching outfits for a unique and memorable look!
Make sure to bring enough money for snacks when you visit!
The park is adjacent to Yakasa shrine with ponds, lush and gardens. The whole park was turned into light pink and white with cherry blossom everywhere, and attracted a flood of tourist to visit and take picture. Highly recommended!
Maruyama Park (円山公園) is a lovely spot to experience Kyoto’s cherry blossom season, even though on March 30, 2025, the temperature was around 11°C, and the blossoms had yet to fully open. Despite this, the park still offered a charming and relaxing atmosphere, with many Japanese families and friends enjoying picnics under the trees.
Once the sakura reaches full bloom, it will undoubtedly be a breathtaking sight—perfect for hanami (flower viewing) picnics. The park’s spacious layout and traditional setting make it an ideal place to soak in Kyoto’s spring beauty. For the best experience, visiting when the blossoms are in full bloom would be truly magical!
We had rented kimono's and walked here to get some photos. The park was beautiful even though we were a bit early for cherry blossoms. Lots of people walking around taking photos, I can imagine it would be beautiful with the sakura blossoms.
Here during Sakura season. Definitely worth the visit. Food, scenery, and a nice Kyoto experience. Bamboo forest nearby that is not as large as the main attraction one but worth it for us who didn’t want the crowd.
