What other travelers are saying about Kokusai Street (International Street)
A fun return visit, always something new to see at Kokusai Dori!
This was a special trip back to Naha Kokusai Dori Shopping Street with my boys. They had been here before when they were much younger, but this time around they could really take it all in and appreciate it. We enjoyed walking through the shopping areas, where they picked up some cool Okinawa trinkets this street is full of those unique souvenirs you can’t really find anywhere else.
Of course, I couldn’t resist dropping a good chunk of cash on some of the fun, character-themed T-shirts they found (Okinawa is famous for these). But honestly, that’s part of the fun. The atmosphere is always lively, with so much to see, hear, and eat. And no visit feels complete without running into those huge, towering 10-foot tall Shisa statues always a great photo spot and reminder that you’re right in the heart of Okinawa.
Every time we visit, there’s something new to discover. Definitely worth the stop!
I would add Kokusa Dori as a must-see trip while in Okinawa. It is geared towards the tourists but it is an experience that you will appreciate no matter who you are. From the many different food choices to the boutique stores... there is something for everyone. Mark this off your to-do list and then head outside of Naha for some more traditional Okinawan experiences!
It's an interesting street where there are plenty of food options and retail options. There are also many side roads that lead to many other retail and food options. The street is always busy and crowded.
This is a really cool little shopping street. Not quite like an arcade but similar idea. We don’t really have these in North America but we definitely should. Lots of cool shops here great vendors and good snacks. Prices are pretty good. I definitely recommend checking it out.
A fun shopping street with a grungy, old-fashioned feel and very much keyed to tourism. There ate some interesting little eateries and bars, and many spuvenir shops (all selling the same tee-shirts and biscuits).
