An amazing place for a family day out, and the entry fee is an absolute steal at only 600 yen (with kids often getting in free)! The ticket covers both the zoo and the beautiful botanical garden next door. The newer enclosures, like the penguin area and the Asian elephants, are really well designed. There’s also a small, retro amusement park with cheap rides that the kids loved. Just a heads-up: the park is built on a hill, so expect a lot of uphill walking. Bring a stroller if you have toddlers, wear comfortable shoes, and definitely take advantage of the slope car to help get around!
Went on a thursday morning and it was like a private zoo since there were only a few tourists. The animals even in the humidity were very active. At 12:00 there were still hardly any people. The zoo is very large. Could take 3 hours to see all animals.
The garden is completely empty at 12:00. The garden is smaller and could take an hour at most.
Both for 600 yen only.

A great place to bring kids to burn off some energy! The park is full of ups and downs, which can be quite a workout, so I highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. If you are visiting with toddlers, no need to worry—you can rent a stroller directly at the venue on the same day, which is incredibly convenient for parents. Overall, despite the hilly terrain, the paths are relatively stroller-friendly. It's a wonderful family spot where you can get close to animals and get a good walk in at the same time!
I have visited both the zoo and the garden. For me it’s a 7/10 zoo. The environment is quite old and the animals seem not so happy and active. Also the cages and environments of the animals are not good enough. Need to improve their living environment. The little cable cars are interesting. The garden is good and relax to visit
The restaurant is quite good and the staff are very polite
We went to the zoo on a very hot Sunday. Some of the animals were asleep or not available. Favorites were Tsushima leopard baby kitten, otters, red pandas, elephants, and owl. It wasn't too busy when we went, but we got tired quickly due to the humid weather. Zoo was only 600 yen and the gift shop was also very nice.
