During the winter season, check their website so you can plan the best time to visit this place. Because of their exhibit period of snow and ice sculpture.
If your intention is to take a good picture of the sculpture visit at night. But if you want a photo of yourself with the sculpture as background better on daytime....
It's my opinion only...
Winter festival here is so impressive. Large ice sculptures, games and vendors really help to bring people outdoor to celebrate the snow and cold weather. Concert and ice rink are also a nice addition. We here 2 years in a roll and still find it fun to walk around.
Visited during the snow festival and we had a good time. The sculptures are impressive and at night they did projections onto some of them. Really cool!
There is also lots to eat and drink all around with many stalls.
Crowded but that was expected, although not as bad as I had feared.
I would recommend attending the festival both during the day and at night. Very different vibes.
Love the snow festival here! The sculptures were AMAZING! And we got to see the some of the contestant sculpting. SO SO FUN! And the security guards were so good too, traffic was ok! Not too crowded. You will definitely have a lot of fun here!
First time visiting the Snow Festival and Hokkaido in general! Not only were the snow sculptures impressive, but we were able to witness the sculptors actively carving.
I also enjoyed the stalls on the side, serving beverages and food. I tried takoyaki and imomochi. I wish I had tried the seafood skewers too!
