淀川支流の大川沿いに広がっている公園。都会のど真ん中にあるので、周辺住民の憩いの場になっている。北端は毛馬水門、南端は大阪城公園近くまで続き、その距離は約7kmほど。春は桜、夏場新緑、秋は紅葉、冬はイルミネーションで飾られ、春夏秋冬を感じる。南北に長いので、ランニングコースとしても親しまれる。大川も穏やかな河で、遊覧船やボート、水上バイクなどマリンスポーツのメッカとして界隈では有名である。船舶免許の試験場も設置されている。

今年の桜の満開予想は 4月4日になっています。 2004年世界的建築家の安藤忠雄氏の呼び掛けにより始まった桜の植樹活動により約4500本河の両岸に 4kmの桜並木が続きます。また大川に架かる新桜之宮橋 (銀橋)は安藤氏の設計デザインによるものです。近くには桜の通り抜けでおなじみの造幣局博物館や梅や花桃の咲く藤田邸跡公園がありどちらも無料で見学できます。

ランニングで利用しました。川沿いにあり木と川ののどかな風景を楽しみながらまったり過ごす事が出来ます。砂浜ビーチみたいな施設があってビーチサッカー？やバレーなどのスポーツを期間限定で楽しめる場所があるようです。草野球広場的なグラウンドもありベンチも所々にありお散歩がてら利用するのにとてもいい場所だなと思いました。春は桜が楽しめるし秋は紅葉が楽しめそうです。
