What other travelers are saying about Hokkaido Shrine
It could have been perfectly peaceful if a horde of Chinese and Korean tourist hadn’t arrived at the same time during a quiet weekday morning. The park and grounds around the shrine are beautiful and I am pretty sure they get even better during spring and autumn. There’s a Rokka-koen store next to it where you can try some of their sweets.
We spent half morning here. It was a great chill and relax walk. Paying respect to gods, wishing for good fortune, and enjoying the atmosphere with a good cup of coffee at a cafe.
You can even visit this place together with the Maruyama zoo either before or after. There is a path that connect both places. Really worth a visit.
Nice shrine and in a park. Great to walk around if you just like to chill and walk. And there’s a zoo nearby so you can also visit. One day around this place would be recommended (zoo, park and shrine)
Really pleasant and calm place. Good place to come for a walk. The parking lot offers 1 hour of free parking.
At the complex itself, we are able to purchase some charms and amulets. If you are lucky, you are able to see locals get married or engage in some of the services within the shrine.
