"Shodo” Calligraphy Workshop Schedule

Shodo Introduction (5 minutes)

Begin your journey into the world of Shodo with a brief, informative session. Learn about the essentials: the brush, paperweight, Sumi (ink), Suzuri (ink well), and Hanshi (thin paper). Discover the art of holding and caring for the brush, setting the stage for your calligraphy adventure.

Basic Strokes Practice (20 minutes)

Dive into the practice of fundamental strokes that are the building blocks of Japanese Kanji (Characters). Experience the art of crafting vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines. Follow this by replicating example kanji to hone your skills.

Personalized Kanji Practice (20 minutes)

Select a kanji character that resonates with you and dedicate time to perfect it. This hands-on session allows you to develop your technique, aiming to write your chosen word with elegance and precision.

Shikishi Creation (10 minutes)

Put your skills to the test by writing your favorite word on shikishi, a traditional card. Watch as your work is beautifully completed with a Rakkan (traditional stamp) by the instructor, making it a memorable keepsake.

Custom Kanji Name Card (Optional, 3500 JPY)

For those interested, our professional calligrapher can translate and write your name, family name, or a favorite word into Kanji. This personalized card, available for large groups upon request, makes for a perfect souvenir or gift.

Additional Custom Card Option (Optional, 2200 JPY per card)

Extend your Shodo experience by opting for an additional custom Kanji card, crafted by our expert calligrapher. This option allows you to further explore the beauty of Kanji with a personal touch.

• 2 to 9 participants: 8,800 JPY per person.

• Solo participant: 9,800 JPY.

Large Group Discounts

• Groups of 10 or more: 7,800 JPY per person.

Reservation and Payment Information

• A SQUARE invoice will be sent upon confirmation of your chosen program, date, and time.

• Payments are processed through SQUARE, accepting credit and debit cards. We do not accept cash, payments on the day, or postpay arrangements.

• Payment must be completed by 5 p.m. Tokyo time, two days before your booked date.

• Cancellations within 48 hours of the event are subject to full booking charges.

• Confirmation via email will be sent once the payment is processed.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel after 17:00 Tokyo local time, two days before your reservation, a cancellation fee of 100% of the total amount (including tax) will be charged.
