The Sakai Knife Factory and Craft Walking Tour is a 3 to 4 hour tour offered by Japan Tour Adventure in Osaka/Sakai that takes visitors through the best of the city, including a visit to the Sakai City Craft Museum, a real knife factory, and a Sharpening Station. The tour is available in Japanese, English, and French and includes a bilingual guide, all fees, taxes, and a knife sharpening lesson. The tour is wheelchair and stroller accessible and meets at the Nankai Sakai Station, East Exit. A minimum number of travelers is required and cancellations must be made 24 hours prior for a full refund. Regular temperature checks and sanitation measures are in place for safety.
The meeting point is located in front of the gates, and it is recommended to arrive at least 10 minutes before departure time.

This local museum highlights what makes Sakai City unique, featuring traditional handmade crafts and local products such as sweets, sake, and craft beer. On the second floor, you’ll learn about the history of knife making and how Sakai became Japan’s leading city for cooking knives.
Visit a traditional Japanese Knife Factory with over 100 years of family history, and see the raw blades being transformed into beautiful handmade cooking knives.
This guided experience in Sakai offers a behind-the-scenes look at the city’s knife-making heritage. You’ll visit a working knife factory to see how blades are crafted into handmade cooking knives, learn traditional sharpening techniques from a professional, and have the option to order a custom knife.
The tour price includes a sweet of your choice, all fees and taxes, a bilingual guide, a visit to the knife factory, and a knife sharpening lesson. It does not include extra food or shopping and souvenirs.
The tour starts with a visit to Yaogen Cinnamon Mochi, a historic sweets shop in Sakai, where one mochi per guest is included. Next, you’ll visit the Sakai Knife & Craft Museum to learn about the city’s craft heritage and knife-making history. The tour then continues to the Yamawaki Knife Company, where you’ll see how blades are made into handmade cooking knives, observe traditional sharpening techniques, and have the option to order a custom knife.
The tour departs from the Nankai Sakai Station, East Exit, and returns to the same location. The meeting point is located in front of the gates, and it is recommended to arrive at least 10 minutes before departure time.

Excellent visit to knife master maker.
