Kirifuri Waterfall

4 (200)Tourist AttractionPoint Of InterestEstablishment

Kirifuri Waterfall is a natural spectacle that lives up to its name, meaning “falling mist.” Kirifuri Waterfall is a two-tiered marvel, with the water tumbling down 75 meters in total. The first drop is about 25 meters, and then the water cascades down another 50 meters, creating a misty veil that hovers around the falls, especially when the wind catches it just right.

Surrounded by thick forests, Kirifuri Waterfall becomes a visual masterpiece during autumn. The leaves turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow, contrasting beautifully with the white rush of the water. It’s a scene straight out of a painting, drawing in those who crave nature’s raw beauty.

The path to the waterfall isn’t long, but it’s a journey that takes you through peaceful woodlands before you reach the observation deck. From there, the view is nothing short of spectacular, with the sound of the water crashing down adding to the sensory experience.

Kirifuri Waterfall is more than just a pretty sight—it's an encounter with nature at its finest. The mist, the colors, the solitude all come together to create a spot that feels both powerful and serene, making it an unforgettable part of Nikko’s natural wonders.

What other travelers are saying about Kirifuri Waterfall

The view is amazing and highly recommended, anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour altogether. Just over 300m to the observation deck. Look for the sign near the bus stop for the trail, it's on the east side of the restaurant. Google maps tried to take me on an small trail, this is not needed and there is little indication of where it goes.

Visited on 24.11.2024. Still beautiful during PM. Easy to access. Path to the waterfall was scenic. No crowds at 3 pm.

This one of the best waterfall in the area. There is no way to get close to the fall though. The autumn colors looks majestic. There is a trail of around 10 minutes or so. There is no entry fee and parking is also free. There are two restaurants nearby parking area so you can have something to eat as well. Bus service is there too, but the last bus is around 3pm.

An impressive waterfall seen from afar. From the parking lot, a 10-minute walk along a beautiful path in the forest. Free parking

The walk to the waterfall wasn't easy with uneven stone walkways and stairs. Going up and down the hillside. But you can hear the water flowing as you continue on the path. The fall colors were present as you walked along. The waterfall was nice and strong and continued flowing for a while along its path. It was beautiful to experience this wonderful force of nature. The setting was nice, too!
