What other travelers are saying about Yasaka Shrine
Even though it seemed crowded when I arrived at night , around 8pm, I had the opportunity to enjoy a nice traditional dance for free inside the temple site. In the entrance I was surprised to see several food stalls closing and picking up their things. I imagine that during the day you can try some street food here. It was very nice to walk around during the Saturday night.
I went here as my first stop in Kyoto. Its a beautiful place without any entrance fee. You can drink the holy water in the beginning and enjoy the beautiful architecture of the palace. If you practice the religion, you will also find your places in the shrine.
This place was not as crowded as the other famous places in Kyoto.
Yasaka Shrine is a beautiful Shinto shrine located near the Kamo River in Kyoto, offering a serene atmosphere with great opportunities for photography, particularly at night when the shrine is illuminated. The vibrant red gates and lanterns create a stunning contrast against the night sky, making it a perfect stop for those seeking both cultural beauty and a peaceful ambiance.
The shrine is conveniently situated near the bustling Gion district, known for its lively food, drinks, and entertainment options, making it easy to explore nearby restaurants and shops after a visit. Its proximity to other popular historical sites makes it an ideal starting or ending point for a day of sightseeing. Yasaka Shrine’s is a smaller complex than some of the others in the city.
Lovely little park and shrine! We walked from our hotel and threw the park which offered little snack shacks and venders. The park is beautifully landscaped and just very serene. The architecture is very beautiful and traditional as well.
A beautiful colourful temple. Surrounded by lush garden and park.
Fantastic place to walk around, very picturesque.
We were fortunate to see a musical performance whilst we were there.
