One of the rest stops I passed through Myojin, Tokusawa, and Yokoo when going from Kamikochi to Karasawa.
There are also campgrounds and Tokusawaen Garden, so many people stay overnight there.
I also recommend the famous Tokuzawa soft serve ice cream.
The journey is about 3 kilometers away from Myojin Pond, and is almost all on flat roads. It is quite easy to walk. You can go deeper and enjoy the natural scenery at a higher altitude. You can come with simple mountaineering equipment, but you must also take the time to catch a ride on your return trip.
When going from Kamikochi to Karasawa, you can go all the way to Yokoo if you feel like sightseeing or hiking, but the first Myojin shrine, Tokuzawa in the middle, and of the rest areas connected to Yokoo, my favorite is Tokusawa. The cafe here was very stylish and had a nice atmosphere❗
A cup of coffee costs 650 yen, which is a bit pricey, but it soothed my body and mind after climbing. The 500 yen soft serve ice cream and coffee float were also delicious☺️
If you look to the right of the cafe cash register, you will see a souvenir shop and further back there is a lodge where you can stay overnight.I was drawn to the beautiful polished flooring and would like to stay there someday! ️
