What other travelers are saying about Nagasaki Penguin Aquarium
Nice small aquarium to get acquainted with penguins and different type of marine life. It's good for both adults and kids. The area around the aquarium is magnificent. Mountains, Pacific Ocean, and weather permitted blue skies. What can be better.
Our children loved this small penguin focused aquarium. You can get there by bus or taxi-- taxi is about 3,800 yen. It's a 200m walk from the roads to the aquarium. The penguins also have a private beach that they are free to walk on and swim at! How cool is that!?!
Honestly worth the bus ride all the way from main area of Nagasaki, it was such a beautiful mountainous area too. The penguin aquarium was worth it, and the little penguins are so cute! They have the most species out of any aquarium in Japan, and I think most countries as well.
Best place ever. Home to 9 (out of 18 total) different penguin species whereas most aquariums only have 1-2 types. The feeding times (at 11am or 3pm) are cuteness overload with penguins frantically waddling after food. The museum also has a ton of information about all the penguin species and very nice visuals. We spent over 3 hours at the aquarium without getting bored.
