Kiyosu Castle

4 (200)Tourist AttractionHistorical PlacePoint Of InterestEstablishment

Imagine stepping back to the era of samurai and feudal lords—this is the experience Kiyosu Castle offers its visitors. Nestled in the heart of Aichi Prefecture, Kiyosu Castle stands as a proud testament to Japan's rich feudal history.

Originally constructed between 1394 and 1427, it played a crucial role during the Sengoku period, notably under the rule of the legendary warlord Oda Nobunaga, who captured the castle in 1555 and used it as his strategic base. The castle's impressive architecture, complete with intricate moat systems and expansive grounds, was recognized as one of the greatest citadels of its time.

Although much of the original structure was dismantled in the early 1600s to aid in constructing Nagoya Castle, Kiyosu Castle was meticulously reconstructed in 1989, offering a glimpse into its storied past. Today, visitors can explore the castle's museum, showcasing samurai armor, ancient weapons, and period costumes.

Climb to the top of the keep for panoramic views and immerse yourself in the history that shaped modern Japan. Plan to visit Kiyosu Castle and walk the same grounds as Japan's most iconic samurai.

Take advantage of this chance to connect with history and discover the legacy of the Sengoku period.
