A great place for family with kids or a nice weekend walk. Very clean, organized, animals are taken good care of here. Compared to a lot other zoos in Japan, it’s on the bigger side. Plan 3 hours to half day here if you want to see all. Indian elephants, Okapi are the stars of the zoo. Highly recommend it. Similar to other zoos, you can find eateries and vending machines. Only the main entrance has proper gift shop. The shop at the north door is much smaller.
Shuttle bus is also available for extra 500 yen. We walked and really enjoyed the scenery along the path.
