What other travelers are saying about Renge-ji Temple
It was very quiet when I visited. I felt calm.
Leaves haven't turned red yet today, but tsuwabuki (yellow flowers ) is blooming and ginko turns yellow. Its garden is designed well.
To miss this perfect, serene, little temple and garden would be tragic. It’s very quiet which is the perfect antidote to all the over crowded ‘big’ tourist temples in Kyoto. I could happily spend a day watching the koi in the tranquil pond contemplating how life could be… and surely that’s the point? Reasonably easy to get to by train and a short walk. I think ¥500 entry but it didn’t matter. Possibly my favourite place in Kyoto.
Very quiet temple which I came across while en route to Rurikoin Temple that day. I would rather spend my whole day here than at any other temples because its trees had turned red and everyone was very quiet (hardly any foreigners). I do hope it will stay this way - quiet without infiltration from us noisy foreigners. (Sorry I’m foreigner too and I can imagine how much disruption I must have caused the locals and I’m sorry for it.)
Visitors there were very respectful of the tranquility. I probably was considered noisy that day, unfortunately. My mom has some mobility issue that day and the staff there were very sharp and took the initiative to come over to help us, which I’m deeply grateful for.
It’s one of my most favourite temples in Kyoto.
Perfect place to enjoy momiji/fall season, when I failed to enter the famous Rurikoin Temple nearby. The place depicts serenity, peace, and beauty all at once. The entrance fee is 400¥ at the time and it’s worth it. Recommended!
Small, green and tranquil. I think it’s more popular or got famous during autumn for the maple leaves color change and with the mosses. I went there during a hot summer day where I was basically the only one inside, enjoying the garden, scenery, silence and nature all by myself, which was exactly what I was looking for coming back to Kyoto and visiting a temple on a week day during the hot summer. Recommend for those looking for some zen moments :)
