What other travelers are saying about Sensoji Temple
Beautiful place just like any other temple but it is definitely one of the most eye catching 🤩 I went around 8:30am on a Tuesday. The place wasn’t packed but was definitely starting to fill as I left around 9am. Cash only souvenirs to buy at temple and ample shops along the streets which reminded me of bali. They were just opening as I left.

An absolute gem of history. Very beautiful and a great place for families to visit. Although it was very crowded, the population very nicely divided into two directions and it was easy to walk around. It is also surrounded by many local stores which are great to buy small souvenirs. Would definitely recommend if you are in Tokyo and also don’t forget to try so many great restaurants that are nearby.
Wow! Such an incredible place to visit, an absolute must do when in Tokyo. We were lucky to be staying very close by so could visit several times. During the day is hectic, I probably would try to avoid after 9am, until it gets to 8pm onwards. It is so beautiful at night and definitely worth coming to the area just to do on it's own but there are so many good places to eat in the area so could plan it that way!
It's a temple in Tokyo that's worth the visit, But be advised VERY touristy and Busy. It's further more impressive if you haven't seen any temples yet, and this is your first. MANY local shops and food options once you enter the area, and beautiful photo opportunities, especially at night when lit up. The temple also offers Goshuin if you're a collector and the line moves fairly quick here. All-in-All it's a nice temple within a busy city that's worth a glance. ENJOY!
It was my second time there this June 2024 (I also went in August 2019). It's crowded but there's lots of shops and people dressed up in Japanese traditional clothes. OS definitely a place to visit while in Tokyo. There are men in short shorts that run and pull carriages of people on the streets on front of the open air shopping markets. Pretty impressive area.
