What other travelers are saying about Kyoto Railway Museum

We had a blast here. There is so much to see, and so many of the exhibits are interactive. Many exhibits have QR codes that you can scan and get descriptions in English, both written and narrated. Do note that reading these will make your time spent here longer...we spent roughly 3 hours exploring without even reading all of the exhibition descriptions. Also be wary that going on a weekday means you will likely share the space with a lot of school children on field trips.

World's best museum we have ever been to. We went twice and enjoy it so much. My son love stimulated train driving and all interactive activities. Worth every yen 🥰.
Absolutely fantastic place especially if you are traveling with a young kid. We spent about 4-5 hours here and our 4 year old was fascinated with the various displays, train watching platform and also the playgrounds. There's plenty in it too for adults as well. English is not always visible, but there is a qr code system to get more information.

The displays are beautiful and there is lot of museum. The downside is most of the content is in Japanese so it is difficult to appreciate the museum if you can't understand/ read Japanese. International tourists can skip this unless you have small kids who just want to watch the train models and frolick around.

It's a great place for young children and adult rail fans. There are so much information you can get if you really spend time. Many kids friendly activities and impressive collection of trains. If you pay extra, there is a train ride, and driving simulation game. There is a cafe and price looks very reasonable but we did not try the food. If you want to also visit the aquarium there are combo tickets you can purchase as well.
